
Business upstarts across Canada
The guests stars of the evening were the recipients of 2008's CYBF Best Business Awards, presented on a regional basis. They were: Robert Kenfield, Dream-Life Design Inc., Vancouver; Colin Davidson, Stealth Acoustical & Emission Control Inc., Calgary; Jason Moniz, South Sherbrook Therapy, Winnipeg; Jodi Sinden, Sinden Home and Lifestyle Inc., Toronto; Jean-Francois Veilleux, Nutra-Fruit Inc., Quebec City; and Bang Dao and Kim Dao, both from Talay Thai Restaurant Ltd., Halifax.
The CYBF Outstanding Mentor Award was presented to Jean Guy Furois of Boucherville, Que., and the CYBF Outstanding Community Partner Award was presented to Monica Kreuger of Global Infobrokers, Saskatoon.
Other trailblazers in attendance included Michael Lee-Chin, chairman, Portland Holdings Inc.; Serge Godin, founder and executive chairman, CGI Group Inc.; Clive Beddoe, executive chairman and co-founder, WestJet Airlines Ltd.; Rob McEwen, chairman and CEO, US Gold Corp.; and John Risley, chairman, Clearwater Fine Foods and CYBF chairman.
The Canadian Youth Business Foundation is a national charity that funds young people possessing an entrepreneurial spirit and good business ideas. Founded in 1996, CYBF has invested in more than 2,400 young entrepreneurs, whose businesses have generated more than $267-million in revenues and created more than 13,000 new jobs.
